Sorry if this question has been answered already. I'm having a hard time finding my answer.
I softmodded my xbox ages ago and never had any trouble with it until a couple of weeks ago when it croaked on me and gave me Error 21. Now, I've read all the error explanations and solutions and all that, but I was wondering if it was possible to restore from the backup without being able to get past this error message? I have it hooked up through my router right now and I am trying to access it with FlashFXPFTP client, but I can't seem to get anywhere here.
Also what is this Slayers auto installer thing I keep hearing about and will it help me in my situation at all? I know Error 21 issues have been resolved in the past without replacing anything and I'm trying to avoid swapping the HDD if I don't have to.
Can you still load originals? Try loading up the game you used to soft mod in the first place and then use Flash FXP to connect and reinstall all the necessary files.
Slayer's is an autoinstaller disc that's fairly out of date. It can be used to install numerous applications, format a hard drive, and a few other things. It won't help you in your current situation though.
I don't have the original game I softmodded with but I tried both copied games and original games to no avail, and it won't boot without a game in it either. Error 21 all the way.
I would, but the hotswap technique confuses me a bit. Am I pulling the IDE cable from a powered-on Xbox HDD and then plugging that HDD into a powered-on PC or should the PC be turned off when I do that? Sounds like a big risk of either zapping myself or ruining the HDD all together.
Huh... damn. I succesfully hotswapped the thing, loaded all the necessary files for shademands readymade softmod, plugged it back into the xbox, rebooted and now it won't go past the boot screen. The Microsoft logo pops on the screen and then it freezes. I tried to hotswap it again and I can't seem to do it now.
