Playing backup PS1 games (not sure what modchip I have)

Okay, I bought my PS2 second hand and it was already fitted with a mod chip.

It will play original PS2 and back-up PS2 games with no problem.

To play original PS1 games I have to hold in the power button for about 5 seconds. I assume this is just disabling the chip.

I can't seem to be able to play backup PS1 games with either method.

I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on what I could try or if it is possible.

I know this is a lot to ask considering I don't know what chip is installed.

Any pointers would be amaizng.


Also, if there isn't a way to boot a straight from a backup of a PS1 game is there a way to use something like swapmagic?

I've found out how to do it.

I have to turn it on and then quickly double tap the power. thanks anyway.
