you can now download movies legally thru services like vongo. I do not have the connections to watch these on my tv from my computer. So before I get the service I wanted to know if it is possible to put these movies on a disk to watch in my dvd/tv. I am not sure but I think they might be protected from being transfered in any way.

Some services have proprietary "burning software" that burns a copy-protected DVD. In essence, it's like you bought the DVD, but you received it through a download, and supplied your own blank. I have not used this, and the software is, no doubt, very spyware-ish by necessity.

I just checked Vongo's site and was prompted to download Internet Exploer 7, which indicates that Vongo isn't too big on customer security. Big red flag there. Worse still, according to their Terms of Service, it would appear that any content you buy is locked to s single device so, no, you probably can't put it on disk.

-Do you believe you own your computer and shouldn't be told what you can run and do? Then say *NO* to Microsoft Vista!
-Since half the questions here involve media problems, here ya go: Only use Verbatim or Taiyo-Yuden discs (get your TYs from Rima.com, not Supermediastore or meritline). Forget the rest, no matter what "brand" they sell under. Always burn at 4x speed regardless of the speed rating of this discs or your drive. If you have burn problems with these then you have to update your drive's firmware. For double-layer discs, only use Verbatim DVD+R DL and burn them at 2.4x speed.
