Costco has a two for one deal this week on TDK white printable DVD's. The +r's were made in Taiwan. The -r's said made in India on a sticker on the package. I did not buy either. Anyone know who makes these?

-Do you believe you own your computer and shouldn't be told what you can run and do? Then say *NO* to Microsoft Vista!
-Since half the questions here involve media problems, here ya go: Only use Verbatim or Taiyo-Yuden discs (get your TYs from Rima.com, not Supermediastore or meritline). Forget the rest, no matter what "brand" they sell under. Always burn at 4x speed regardless of the speed rating of this discs or your drive. If you have burn problems with these then you have to update your drive's firmware. For double-layer discs, only use Verbatim DVD+R DL and burn them at 2.4x speed.

I looked at those Monday and passed big time. For some reason, Costco only carries TDK. We shop there fairly often and I wish they carried better brands -- like Verbatim!

Hello, I have Bought those TDK printable white top disks at costco in the past, PURE CRAPOLA... Take my word on it and save yourself some money !! Out of ten burns maybe two played and now a few months later none play ! I threw the other 90 disks away and i still have 100 sealed and sitting in the closet . I have no idea what to do with them except make some windchimes out of them or throw them ! Get verbatim or TY's or maybe even office depot brand +r riteks all three i have had great success with. /Unjust

Those ones Made in India are most likely Moser Bauer and I have never had good luck with them. Most burner mfr do not have them included in their firmware updates and therefore the burners spit on them. Just my two cents.

All depends on what your wanting them for I suppose. At 20 cents or less a disk they are great for throw away disks after my standalone records a TV show. I've stopped using them for movies only for fear they may give me troubles 6 months down the road. Considering verbs and Sonys are on sale a couple times a month for around 30 cents I'll stick with them for the movies. I still have enough of the Ty Sony's to last me well into the HD conversion. Especially considering the new releases have sucked lately.

I have got the -R's in the past, bought 3 packs of the hundred, maybe had three coaster out of the 3 packs.
the ones i got did not say MI india, they were made in Taiwan
only problem is they say 16x speed but 4x is the only suported speed for my burner, i think thats why i got the coaster burning them at the higher speeds, but every1 came out good and still works fine today burning at 4x speed,
BTW i only use TYs and Verbs now
thats a good deal though i wish i had that deal when i bought mine
this is what the id manu is
im not really reccomending them, just letting u know my experi. with them

Hello 300bowler,
Father in law also bought some TDK, a pack of each.
DVD+R was crapola CMC Mag but the DVD-R were TTH02 like you.
They seems to be not too bad, they are quoted 1st class media on here:
http://www.digitalfaq.com/media/dvdmedia.htm
I also use Taiyo Yuden and nothing else now.
But at least those TDK DVD-R are a good backup.
The DVD+R (CMC Mag), anyone needs them for target shooting ? HAHAHA

have only had backups a year though.
Hope they work just as good down the road,

I have backups that are four years old, burner used was a NEC 1100a on Verbatim 2x media using 321 XCopy and all are still playing as good as when first burned. Even have reripped them to edit out the stupid 321 nag and all have ripped beautifully. Shows that when you use good media to begin with they will perform.

Agreed that the TDK is pure garbage. I'm having TTG02 fail on me I bought in January! Well, I don't know for sure that it burned correctly, but it's supposed to be decent media.

I've used the Costco TDKs, +R, and have yet to get a coaster. I hope down the line they hold up.

I have bought TDK DVD+R's in the past from Costco, the ones that were only 8x last year (4 packs of 100 spindles), and 4x the year before that (4 packs of 50 spindles). They all worked perfectly. I actually just finished the last 8x pack last night, so I thought I would open up these new 16x that I bought this year with the buy one, get one free deal earlier this year. Total crap! I tried burning 4 data discs on my Sony desktop that would not close "disc-at-once." I lost 3 more that "claimed" to have closed successfully on my Sony laptop. I thought it worked fine, but once I tried to play a burnt movie on 3 DVD sets, I had to power on and off a few times, eject the disc multiple times, and smash the Menu button before it would play! And as for the two other data discs that "successfully" completed, it would come up as blank on both my desktop and laptop (even though it just finished burning minutes earlier)! CRAP! Costco, you should carry the good ones again!

I ran at 8X, maybe that helped. Also, the movies were not too recent.

@ JasonJay,
For TDK it all depends on who the Manufactors are. Some are ok and other are crap.
See what the Manuf. ID is?
i believe someone said that the +R's from costco were CMC which is crap, but the kind in my earlier post are good quality THH02
however the best media is still Verbs and TYs

300Bowler, I agree. When using Verbatim, I kick up the backup speed. They also, perform more reliably on inexpensive dvd machines.
