hi everyone. i have been trying to get online since i bought my PS2 this january.

1) Do i have to have a router? it is easy for me to unconnect my cat5 from my PC into the back of my PS2.

2) after i do this i go through the online start up disk, and i get to a screen that says connecting..... Requesting DHCP configuration. but i can never get past this point?


please help me, i have been trying to get online for over 6 months now.

Are you using a Modem without an ethernet port?

If so, you can put a network card in your PC (if you dont have one already) and then get a crossover ethernet cable, connected to back of PC and PS2 (obviously) and then set up internet connection sharing.

That how I do it, well is at the moment, waiting on delivery for router though :)

malachib, you don't need a router although it's the easiest way to have both the pc and ps2 online simultaniously. After you connect the ethernet cable to the ps2 power cycle your modem and run the network setup after that.

WEStar, if you happen to know anything about Xbox online with a wireless router and wireless gaming adapter PM me.
This set up has me stumped. I have tried everything i could even think up to make the connection and still can't

I don't know much about xbox as I don't own one and never really got into it but, I do have some networking skills that may come in handy. Lemme know what's wrong and I might be able to help.
