Didn't look on the web site but my local Houston store had two Ritek -R (no +R) 16x 100 packs on the shelf for $29.95 each , several Ridata CDR 50 packs at $12.99 plus Ridata +R DL 10 packs at $16.99 each.

None of this is inkjet printable but there is plenty of room to use a sharpie on them.

Yes I know Ritek isn't everybody's favorite media (I prefer TY, Verbatim & Sony in that order) but I once burned a 50 pack of Memorex 16x (Ritek F1 coded) at 8x & not one single coaster. Both video & data play back fine so I have no problem with Ritek's 16x discs. Yes I can burn at 16x but I never go over 8x & half the time I'll burn a DVDR disc at 4x. Oh & I took both DVD packs out of the store with my other purchases.

I was a big Memorex fan (1000+ discs, maybe a dozen coasters) until I got some Ritek G05. Needless to say, I don't buy Memorex anymore...

Some Ritek is good stuff. But it's too hit-or-miss.

-Do you believe you own your computer and shouldn't be told what you can run and do? Then say *NO* to Microsoft Vista!
-Since half the questions here involve media problems, here ya go: Only use Verbatim or Taiyo-Yuden discs (get your TYs from Rima.com, not Supermediastore or meritline). Forget the rest, no matter what "brand" they sell under. Always burn at 4x speed regardless of the speed rating of this discs or your drive. If you have burn problems with these then you have to update your drive's firmware. For double-layer discs, only use Verbatim DVD+R DL and burn them at 2.4x speed.

I never buy Memorex. That one 50 pack (that turned out as Ritek F1) was a chrismas present.

Yes Ritek was hit or miss for awhile. The older 2x & 4x media burned good at my burners lowest speed of 4x. I tried the 8x G05. 8x speed was fair but my Plextor 716-A (with 1.06 maybe 1.07 firmware at the time) did a much better burn at 4x so thats the speed I used for G05.

The 16x F1 does good at both 4 & 8x. Haven't tried 16x & don't need to as 8x is fast enough. Supermediastore has it on sale (it says limited time) for $29.99 the same price I paid for it at Microcenter. Cheaper buying it locally this time (even with the sales tax) but the DVD media (16x plus the double layer packs) were not listed in the flyer. Only the Ridata CDR's.

I normally buy 8x media because it's cheaper than the 16x stuff. Tayio Yuden is my favorite media of choice but I have to get that online. Sony can be found at Best Buy. I grab it when it's on sale. Verbatim is bought for the double layer media only usually online as Best Buy is sometimes out of the 20 packs plus I can get it cheaper online.

Really like inkjet printable which is another reason I buy TY however I did buy some inkjet printable G05 once & it burned fine. If I buy media in the store it has to have plenty of writable area for a sharpie. Sony & Ridata both do.

Quit buying Memorex (in the CDR format) because they used CMC most of the time. I couldn't burn audio discs above 8x without skipping & noise problems with all CD players I tried & no it wasn't my burner as I had the exact same results with 3 burners in 2 computers. So no Memorex DVD media for me either!

They are good but not quite as good as Verbs. And they are the same price when Verbs are on sale every other week.

I've had no problem with the Ridata discs (DVD-R) I bought. They burn great at 8X which is half of the 16x rated speed. They are not inkjet printable however there is plenty of room to use a sharpie like the Sony discs.

I do prefer inkjet printable TY & Verbs though. TY for single layer & Verbs for double layer.
