want to overlay file timestamp onto MPEG files...but how?

Hi all!

I'm hoping somebody can help with this challenge I have. I record movies using my digicam (MPEG4). I also had an older digicam that captured lower quality MOV files which I have since converted to MPEG4.

The result is that I have hundreds of MPEG clips and want to compile everything onto a DVD. However the digicams did not timestamp the clips. the date/time on the files themselves are accurate, so I'm wondering if anyone knows of software that can overlay the timestamp info on to the MPEG clips. I've been googling for so long I'm getting dizzy and haven't found anything!

Oh, and I also have not picked a DVD creation software yet. My mind is wide open. I'm leaning toward Nero Vision because it can insert random transitions between all those clips, but I like the interface of Adobe Premiere. If anyone has compiled home movie DVDs based on hundreds of MPEG clips like me and would like to recommend software, I'm all ears!!
