DVD camcorder disc wont play on any player in VR

Hi all,
Just tried to view my first effort with my new Hitachi DZ-BX37e DVD camcorder and after finalizing the full disc in VR mode on DVD-RW discs Ive found it cannot be read on any of my DVD players.
Ive tried on my Yamaha , Toshiba and even the Moded PS2 in the kids room but it cannot be read. Even on my PC it comes up as "Corrupted Disc".
Can anyone offer advice on what I should be doing before I go back to the shop where I bought it and cause a scene!. Im begining to think I should have stuck with my old Hi8.
