Hey budz1girl yeah I have a few ideas, you have divx codecs installed right? ok step 2 get tmpgenc its available in the downloads section. 3 use tmpgenc to encode the movie into a vcd or svcd , try vcd it is more likley your dvd player will play vcd rather then svcd...or maybe not. you load your setting and then you load your movie file then click next encoding the movie will take any where between 1 hour to 3.5 hours to vcd that is (also depends on computer speed ) after it is done you then use nero or other burning software that can make a vcd compliant cd. chose vcd drop it in and burn. the slower the better we recomend 4x. well hope you have good luck in doing this , you can also e-mail me if you have any other questions at ttiger88@hotmail.com

I have understood that I have to encode avi files if I want to get a vcd.
However, can I just copy them directly onto CDR (as I would do with MP3) if I intend to use them only on my computer?
Thank you in advance.

Yes, if you don't need to have DVD player compatibility, burning them on CD just like any other data file, is enough.

=) I take into account all the threads, but I don't have enough time to answer to everyone. Surprisingly, kinda slow Saturday now :-)
