Hi people- hope you are all fit and well

Right heres the deal!

As some of you maye know i recently bought an epson r220 for phot/dvd printing.
Whilst it has been very good to me so far i have just encountered a problem.
After going to the races yesterday i took a few snaps on my digital camera and decided to print em off this morning.
I had to buy some new photo paper so opted for Verbatim double sided paper- now here is the problem.
I am printing on the glossy side and in my printer settings i have selected the paper as epson premium glossy as this seems the closest type i can find to the verbatim paper.

The photos print well until near the end wher i get large long 'blobs' of ink appearing that are nearly soaking through the paper!?!

I have had alook at the head cleaning utility and troubleshooting stuff but it seems to say that i should only run that utility if colours are faded or mising from the prints.

I really dont know what to do0 have tried running blank paper through the printer to see if that picks up any excess ink that is present but there is nothing.

I am using compatible inks and the 'problem' blobs seem to be only appearing from the black and red cartridges which are running low (about a quater of the ink left in them)

Any help would be greatly appreciated as it is really annoying me and i am acomplete novice at this as it is my first printer and i have only had it about a month.

Please feel free to move this to anther forum as i wasnt sure where to post it.

Over and out

What size of paper you using?
8.5 x 11
5 x 7
4 x 6

I had some bad photos from some double sided HP photo paper. It worked ok in my lexmark, until I upgraded to the R-200.

Try some other paper-single sided.

I've used Staple's/epson/HP/Kodak in all the glossy/semi gloss/and matte finish's. They all look sweet. Majority of my photos are 4 x 6, but my case covers for original dvds look better than original covers.

Staple's photo paper is pretty cheap, but still an excellent quality photo.

I've never cleaned the heads of my printer. Despite using whatever paper is on sale, and generic private.abucus ink.

If the paper switch doesn't help, try ink cart change. Meritline.com and supermedia store.com have some excellent prices on generic epson ink. Should be under $16 for the entire set of 6 ink carts!

i was using normal photo size (6x4) and the problem has only occured using the verbatim paper.

I have since printed onto normal plain A4 and onto discs and everything has been fine which suggests its the paper.

How can paper affect the way it prints surely these printers can print onto any photo paper? whats the difference? also is double sided paper generally worse to use thaan the single sided stuff?

cheers for the help saugmon.
