So i have been reading and i have a few questions.

1.So i dont need to buy any extra equipment for the slim ps2 to go online?

2.Can i just hook up the ps2 to my eathernet cable from my cable modem?

Also i have a japanese only game (auto Modellista) and if i play that online would it only play with people in japan? And wouldnt the connect be very slow?

You are correct, you do not need anything else to take your slim PS2 online....it has a built in NA. The game servers for the Japanase game will probably check the region of your PS2 and boot you if it not a Japanese PS2.

Well im in luck because it is a japanese ps2. Now what if it is a american game but it is a japanese ps2?

even if it's a japanese ps2 and japanese online game it probably won't work 'cause from what I've been told they make people subscribe or sign up to make accounts in japan and it checks for address or IP etc... japanese ps2 with US game also won't work online without some changes and you can only make the changes if you have an older ps2.

Could you tell me how to make those changes? I have a fat v4 ps2 -30000. So its pretty old

you'd need to use something called ps2 id changer. Look in the forums there's a sticky on the topic.

don't know if you have to be registered at the site ace mentioned but, I remembered you can get it from www.sksapps.com I believe it's under the online section.

Its proper title is 'PS2 Machine ID Changer' and it's by Paradox.
It's available as a download in the downloads section of backupscene with an Xcel spreadsheet containing instructions & a list of partial console IDs.
