.avi skipping while running from DVD-R

I have a 2GB .avi file that is 1 hour long. I created using the ULead video production software that came with the video capture hardware I purchased. I burned the .avi file to a DVD since it wouldn't fit on a CD and tried to run the file from the DVD (opening the file in windows explorer from the DVD drive) and while playing it skips consistently. When I put the file on the hard drive and play it, I have no problems. Any ideas?
