Use the PAL codes. All those PAL to NTSC patchers do are to change the video mode from PAL to NTSC. The game still has PAL region code, so might as well use the PAL DNAS ID for your game.

don't bother, you won't be able to go online with a PAL game on an NTSC machine, you'll keep getting DNAS error -833

I'm not quite sure, but I think your region code and DNAS IDs match in order to see each other. I don't really know.

PAL games get patched with PAL DNA$ IDs, NTSC(US) games with NTSC(US) IDs, and NTSC(JAP) games with NTSC(JAP) IDs, regardless of whether you use a screen position patcher like PAL2NTSC or not.
PAL games connect to European servers where most people speak English, but there are some who may speak German, Spanish, Dutch etc..
NTSC games connect to NTSC servers.
JAP games connect to JAP servers, where they speak Japanese, and are often pay-to-play or JAP region only, through IP check, or both.
However, since you have an NTSC PS2, then you won't be able to connect to any PAL server unless you also change the internal Machine ID of your PS2 to a PAL one (in actual fact, you'll be changing to a PAL/NTSC Hybrid enabling you to play on NTSC & PAL game servers).
You can only change your Machine ID if you have an old style 'fat' PS2 from v1 to v7 ONLY. And to do that you need Paradox's Machine ID Changer.
If you want more info on that, then do a forum search, as its been covered many times before, especially in the PS2 DVD Backup Forum.

I did say that any additional info can be found by searching the relevant forums. I also said this;
Quote: in actual fact, you'll be changing to a PAL/NTSC Hybrid enabling you to play on NTSC & PAL game servers
Which you seem to of missed! Meaning you won't need to change back. The change will allow access to all the online games from your own region as well as PAL.
In addition though, since you've disclosed you're trying to play the PAL version of 'Ratchet & Clank', you won't be able to play that game as it uses a Central Station account which you can only set up with a PAL Network Access disc & PIN number sent to you from Sony if you're an EU resident. This also applies to any other Sony online title such as; all the Socom games, the 'Formula One' games, Killzone etc..
EDIT: Didn't I tell you this in another topic?
