Hitachi dz mv550a (NTSC) copy to PC??

I receive the message "The disc in drive F: cannot be used Format type UDF 1.5 Insert AV format (UDF 2.0 type) 4.7 GB disc to the drive." My user manual says in the "Creating DVD Video on PC form DVD-Ram disc Recorded on DVD Video Camera/Recorder. Step 1. Insert a recorded DVD-RAM disc into the dvd video camera, and connectthe DVD video camera/recorder tot the USB terminal of PC OK done that and PC recognizes the device on drive F. Step 2. Start DVD-Movie Album SE, and edit the images on DVD-RAM disc as necessary.
All I get is the above Format message. The DVD Camcorder is a Hitachi DZ-MV 550A and 2 software programs were included (Installed)
First is DVD-Movie Album SE and Second is My DVD ( I haven't got past step two. Can someone point me in the right direction and/or turn on the light bulb for me?? Thanx labman
