Hello peeps,
I have latterly purchased Full version of Acoustica CD/DVD label software after deciding that I should "improvise" the looks of my 200 DVDs. So I bought Compulabel CD/DVD labels and started to use them on my DVDs. So far so good until this afternoon when I labeled my car audio CD that I just ripped started to output strange "sqeaky" noise while playing in my Car Stereo. Very long time ago before I even started pulling this stunt, I read that using sticky CD/DVD labels can screw up your CD/DVD player cuz the laser will not be reflected back properly (sorry if I'm missing the tech part) with that label on. So it is evident that something of that sort happened to me this afternoon. After doing to a li'l R&D I found that there are some label makers that gaurantee of hazzle freeness!!! Can anyone of you confirm this concept? Can anyone of you be able to suggest me the best label maker.
Thanks and I fully appreciate your time in reading this....

Probably the only better way to trash your CDs is to microwave them or perhaps take a power sander to them.
So...*******NEVER USE STICKY LABELS ON CDS AND DVDS!!!!!*******
-Do you believe you own your computer and shouldn't be told what you can run and do? Then say *NO* to Microsoft Vista!
-Since half the questions here involve media problems, here ya go: Only use Verbatim or Taiyo-Yuden discs (get your TYs from Rima.com, not Supermediastore or meritline). Forget the rest, no matter what "brand" they sell under. Always burn at 4x speed regardless of the speed rating of this discs or your drive. If you have burn problems with these then you have to update your drive's firmware. For double-layer discs, only use Verbatim DVD+R DL and burn them at 2.4x speed.

yeah we DONT recommend using paper labels on CD/DVDs it throws the balance off and can affect playback. and the labels are bad longterm.
either use an inkjet printer or just a sharpie. NO paper labels

Besides upsetting the balancing of the DVD, the use of stick-on labels changes their reflectivity and impedes performance. Sometimes immediatly, sometimes as time goes bye. Recommend buying DVDs manufactured with stickon labels, if that's what you want.

It is my experience that using paper lables on your dvd/cds seriously compromises playback.
I purchased a lightscribe dvd burner and use verbatim lightscribe DVD+R discs and am very happy with this method.
or you can just use a sharpie....

hmmmnnn.....canon or epson.Hard to say really, cos you only really find out when youve bought the bugger. No point relying on magazine reviews as they ALL have a vested interest.Every mag has, as it depends which manufaturer bungs products to the reviewers.I always go by personal recommendation, thats why i use ty discs.(when did you ever see a mag review on these discs??)I bought a canon after being able to see how it performed...i didnt know anyone with an epson hence my purchase. What swung it was a)the price i got it for and b)the price of cartridges. i get jettec for about £1.75 each.Best way to decide is take these factors into consideration, hopefully there is a vendor nearby that has both on display with accompanying test prints. But i must admit that my old epson non-disc printer did better photos.Just a thought.
