Bilkpaq new oranges aren't too bad, but in general, they aren't the best. Try to stick with Ritek of the New Datawrite Yellows 4x Princo.

I have the same dvd burner as you, and haven't tried many different brands. Stay away from bulkpaq though - the clear frosted ones. I just bought 5 lots of 10 shrinkwrapped, and opened the first one, 6 out of 10 were total shite! all but 1 of the 10 successfully burned, but the last 10 mins or so of footage breaks up and goes blocky on about half of them.

I bought these at a computer fair, and ive been to the same stallholder 3 or 4 times, so hopefully he'll remember me and will allow me to exchange the 4 unopened 10 packs for something else.

The best discs at the lowest price i have used are traxdata (the goldy-bronze coloured ones), i have used 100 of these with no errors. I have tried Ritek ones, but only 25, again with no errors, but the build quality seemed inferior - separation of the layers around the spindle of the disc.

I have the NEC 1100A to, and here's my personal list of media to use and/or avoid:

EXCELLENT:

Verbatim
Sony
Fuji
TDK
Taiyo Yuden
Ricoh
Maxell
CMC
HP
BeAll
Philips

GOOD:

Memorex
Datawrite (rpted okay)
Traxdata (1 comment)
Clas Ohlson (RICOHJPNR00 & JPNW01)

IFFY/MIXED:

Bulkpaq (NEC writes, Sony plyr compat. prob PRODISCR01)
Platinum (RICOHJPNR00)
Mirror (RICOHJPNW01)
Intenso (RICOHJPNW01)
Ritek

INCOMPATIBLE/BAD (AVOID):

Smart Buy (PRODISCR01)
Princo
Nashua (DATATRAK001)
DataTrak (DATATRAK001)

This list was based on comments by other NEC 1100A users so it's still subjective. I'd also like to add that just because your DVD burner hasn't made a coaster doesn't make it great because I'm factoring in DVD player compatibility with the DVD media too. Cheaper media is known to be problematic for certain DVD players.
