let me start from the beggining from the beggining i could burn dvd's with my comp. but i could put avi's onto cd's & i could watch them on my comp. but not on a dvd pllayer.(why that is i still dont know)
the only thing that seemed to work properly was me burning songs to cd's. but lately when i burn songs to a cd its just like when i try to burn avi's it wont play in anything exept me comp. (& that kinda destooys the whole purpose of making a cd)

im using maxell cd-r (with itunes or sonics "record now"

That's because most DVD players can't play AVI movies. You would have to use DVD Santa to convert it into a DVD format then you DVD player would be able to play it.

For this you might be burning it different than you were before. For example, you might be burning you mp3 files as a data disk for instead of a audio cd converts your mp3 to wav files turning it into a cd that can play into any dvd/cd player. Only soem players can play mp3's.

the thing is that when i use programs like Nero to burn in the last step were i have to click dvd drive to put it there it says to insert a disk even if i already have a blank disk in there

the thing that annoys me is that
1.i wasted like 50 bucks on blank dvds that are now collecting dust
2.i hear that since they are memorex that i need a firmware update then i came back here again & they told me to buy a dvd burner so i dont know which is wrong with my comp.
