I've been backing up dvds useing DVD Shrink for a while now and have not had any problems until recently. I have been getting a stutter on nearly every dvd I burn around the 40 minute mark. I would assume that this is a problem with my burner, but if someone has encountered a similar problem I would like to know how they fixed it. It is not the DVD player (does the same thing in every DVD player). I also do not believe that it is the DVDs because some of them have worked.

It's probably the media you're using. I'll bet you are using Memorex, or some other off brand that you found real cheap? Memorex and other cheap stuff may burn ok, and look ok, the first couple times you watch them. But down the road (anywhere from a week, to maybe a year), when you go back to watch them, they will possibly freeze and pixellate, and the sound will hang and stutter.

It's because the dye you burned to starts to break down. They call it media rot or disc rot. Not good quality control at the factory.

If you're using good, quality discs (Taiyo Yuden, Verbatim, Sony or Maxells that are made in Japan), and you're having this problem, you may want to see if there's an upgrade for your firmware.
