motorolla v265 help please!!

ok so i have a motorolla v265 and the mobile phone tools and data cable. All of that stuff works fine. It picks up my phone and i can look at my contacts and send pictures to it.

however there is a problem using the mulitmedia app to try and put ringtones on my phone. from everything i have been reading my phone should be able to support mp3 ringtones. however whenever i transfer a song from my computer to phone when i try to play it on the phone i get a message that says the file is corrupt and cannot play. what is goin on there?? can anybody help me
