I believe thay are not making Ritek 1x anymore and concentrating on the 2x and 4x (g03's and g04's). I could be wrong though

Ritek are not making 1x any more, all production has moved to the 4x disc. Look at it this way - if you can sell ever piece of 4x you can make why make any 1x!
Any small amounts of 1x that are still around should be snapped up - last of a dying breed!

Imnot sure of the technicalities of the G03, but i bought them and have been using them at 2x on the Pioneer DVR105 with v1.30 firmware that cane with it. Mr Yang is wrong when he says that all production is oging to 4x. It will be going that way, but not for a while yet. 2x are still being produced

Ok...Just found out that most dvd writers write @ 1x with the ritek g03 & pioneer & sony writers with the right firmware are capable of upgrading the write speed to 2x.

I am a Ritek distributor... Trust me I'm not wrong, any 1x discs that are still around are the last Ritek 1x your gonna get - some distis are selling the last of their 1x at £1+ .... I am now selling the 4x at under a quid.
By the way there is no such thing as a Ritek 2x disc. All the 1x discs will write at 2x with the correct firmware but you know what it is like some people think a firmware upgrade is the equivalent of having to perform a heart bypass!
The way Ritek work is this - 70% of their production capacity goes to their big OEM partners - they manufacture for Pioneer, Ricoh...etc - they get priority - any capacity that is left goes to the distribution channel - this is where they make their real money, but there is a big problem with certain companies bringing in sub grade A media... If Ritek make a disc and it won't record at the designated speed it is downgraded, most of these lesser grade discs are sold into China traditionally but there are companies in the UK (not naming names) who have contacts with these companies in China and continually bring in lesser grade media. There are official grades of A, B, C, D, E, and F... distributors only ever touch the A and sometimes B grade - be careful there is some real real crap about - bottom line is this - if you buy Ritek media it should work 100% if it doesn't send it back, also try to steer away from buying unbranded. Anyone who claims to have 1x Ritek at under £1 now probably has the crappy stuff - mind you I would say that wouldn't I.
