Hi I was wondering if anyone has any ideas why I can't burn a dvd movie on a TDK Blank Media +R ( Printable)
I have used other brands wit h no problems + or -
I have an LG dual Layer dvdwriter
Thanks
Yes, TDK is crap.
If you are buying locally and don't order online get Verbatim or Sony. They are the highest quality you will find at the usual retail stores.
-Do you believe you own your computer and shouldn't be told what you can run and do? Then say *NO* to Microsoft Vista!
-Since half the questions here involve media problems, here ya go: Only use Verbatim or Taiyo-Yuden discs (get your TYs from Rima.com, not Supermediastore or meritline). Forget the rest, no matter what "brand" they sell under. Always burn at 4x speed regardless of the speed rating of this discs or your drive. If you have burn problems with these then you have to update your drive's firmware. For double-layer discs, only use Verbatim DVD+R DL and burn them at 2.4x speed.
the problem with TDK is that it all depends which manufacturers' disc are within the TDK tub, one day it could be one manufacturers' discs, another day it could be a completely different manufacturer.
..also there's a link in my sig..
..it could also be that your burner's firmware needs updating, but my point about not knowing who makes those TDK's still stands
I totally agree with creaky, it depends on the manufactor, not all TDK are crap, I have in the past burned about 200 and had only 3 coasters(that were my own fault)
heres the good stuff(Not great media like,TYs,Verbs) these are printables from costco
If you can't record a movie or anything else on the disc but that same recording will work on other discs, the problem is either: 1) your drive will not recognize the MID code used on the TDK discs, or 2) there is something wrong in the ADIP section of the discs such as a stamper flaw (very unlikely and even more unlikely that it would affect every disc in a spindle.) People's opinions about TDK quality don't help solve your problem. If, however, you are recording information but it cannot be read, then there are many other factors involved. I am assuming from your description that the discs simply will not record. In that case, #1 is the most likely reason; and a firmware update may help ONLY IF THE UPDATE INCLUDES THE MID CODES THE TDK DISCS ARE USING. (Updates do not automatically work for all firmware issues; they only work for the issues being addressed.)
