sheempa- If they are MIJ= made in Japan then most likely they're Taiyo if they are MIT= Made In Taiwan then they will code out Sony ! as to whether or not the ones at Bestbuy are Taiyo well I would suspect that it would vary from store to store ? But there's always the option of Checking other retail outlets Like Officedepot , Walmart or perhaps even Sears though I'm not100% sure that Sears does the price matching thing ! and pricematch them if they have the Mij's that you want !! I know Officedepot Carries sony media atleast my locals do ! Wallyworld well depends on the store & whether or not they carry Dvd Media in 100ct. spindles ! In either case I hope this was helpfull ? And why can't OfficeDepot just sell us their brand DVD media @ the $19.99 price instead of the 75/25 dvd /cd combo ? I got CDR's out the wazzooo !!!! already unmerciful even !!!! Office Depot

I will check out my local BB and report back as to if the MIJ stuff is available. Used to be you could spot the TY or MIJ Sonys by an octoganal spacer on the top of the spindle. Sometimes the difference is in the color of the base spindle. You can always read the label to find MIJ, but these other things make spotting the good stuff easier. Given a choice, i will always choose the TYs over the sony media. Sonys own media isnt bad, but the TYs are better. At least thats been my experience.

No tys in the +16x sony at staples. Only dash 16x-yielding Ty-g03.Spindles of +16x sony are still made in both taiwan and japan,but feature the exact same Sony D21 MID code.
My stash of 500 Office Depot P-16's has run out a while back. Not too bad of media. About 10 coaster: 1 had a stain on it,and 9 caused by piece of crap backup pc rebooting in middle of burn.
$20 for 75? Too much,even with the cd-rs.
The sony D21 are scanning pretty good. Consistantly in the mid 90's,but burning at 4x only.
26 cents each? well worth it.

Sadly all the Sonys in my local BB were MIT. I got a spindle and it codes out D-21. I burn mine at 6x and they are doing fine. I was just hoping to get 100 Sony Tys for the same price. Oh well, this media is OK and the price is great too.

Has anyone found MIJ Maxells in those 25-packs? I know that the 50 and 100 packs are no longer MIJ, but I could have sworn I saw MIJ Maxells in the 25 packs at one point.

Not lately for the 25 packs last time I found some MIJ maxells they were closing them out at a local wallyworld 50ct. spindles/ cake boxes ! I bought three as I recall . The same wallyworld also produced some Sony DVD-R 16x/Taiyo yudens = Mij's Later for me so I tool BestBuy's ADD & pricematched them ! they're gonna close that store in Oct. So I'm waiting for a big closeout out sale Woo ! Woo ! The Maxell mij's are kinda like the Sony Mij's and a RAdio shack sale Where is as Is - in that They are where & when you find them ! I would suggest you try not just the big consumer electronics & computer stores ,like OFFICEDEPOT, BestBuy ,Stapes ect... But also Stores like Walgreens , Eckerds & of course Wally World too ! as often the more non- traditional outlets may have them ! It just be a local thing but OfficeDepot often has the mij Maxells particularly in the white/printables though those are not often the ones they put on sale ! Be dilligent and keep looking and you may even suprise yourself? the same advice I mentioned about Maxell Mij's can be applied to Sony MIj's & Fuji MIj's although the Fuji's are getting somewhat rare atleast in spindle quantities ! Yes, I found plenty of MIJ Maxell DVD+R 8X at my local Walgreens Pharmacy! They were on Sale for $8.99 for 25. They are the real deal!
Maxell 002. Hitachi Made in Japan! They are sweet too! I watch for those at places like that.
Use The Best Media for The Best Burns! TYs, Verbs,(Made in Taiwan) Sony MIJs (YUDEN000 T02), Sony Made in Taiwan DVD+R 16x, Maxell MIJ, RITEK G05.

My fault, I should have been more specific and asked have you found any 16x MIJ Maxells. I specifically want 16x. The 16x 50 and 100 packs are all MIT now, but I thought that Maxell was still selling MIJ media in the 16x 25-packs. Sorry for the confusion.

hey guys whats the best media to get i've been using Verbatim, but they are not on sale this week in store. i wanted to know whats a good alternative to Verbatim? thanks guys for posting the sales this week. I hope Verbatim is on sale next week so maybe i'll wait till sunday.

Taiyo Yudens rank at the top of my list followed by Verbatims. Some Riteks are OK too. I usually dont stray far from Tys or Verbs. I am going to look at my local walgreens since its open 24hrs and im a nightworker. If they have any MIJ Maxells, im snaggin a pack.
