Hi
I've seen some threads here which mention that clonedvd2 installed on winxp hangs during burning, towards the end of the process.I have similar problems too with my laptop. During reading from dvd, it hangs usually when the progress is 49% or 98% after which you have to force shutdown. One thing i do to alleviate that is to keep the dvd busy like constantly check the contents using explorer. Another thing that works better is to pause the process at 48% and 97%, eject the dvd, put it back in and then resume.It kind of sucks because you have to monitor it while its doing it which is a waste of time.I suspect its something with winxp. I have the latest drivers and it still does the same thing.I couldnt really find any satisfactory solution.

And this is not about the write media, it happens when i'm creating an image file (as well as if i directly make a copy). Once i get past that, then i have no problems burning it to the dvd.It is as though winxp looses connection with the dvd burner after a while.

If you have that many problems with the burrning option using CloneDVD then why dont you just output an ISO and not have CloneDVD burn the disc. Skip that step. Then after it makes the ISO burn the ISO with DVD Decrypter or Nero (our whatever burning program you have that will burn image files)

I have never had this problem when I used this program in the past. I dont use it anymore and dont have any input to give to you to fix this problem.

You could always try uninstalling and reinstalling the program again.

@sikkove,

Not that I am an expert here,far from it. However, I have noticed that reading (making the image file) does take tons of cpu usage. On one of my computers, the read process at times is almost 100%. This is with 512mb ram. If you control, alt, delete, you can see how much is being used in the task manager.

First defrag your system. You need to free up some memory. Disconnect from the internet, disable your antivirus. You can use msconfig and disable unnecessary programs in Start. Reboot after every burn. Let your system cool down if the temperature is high. If that doesn't work, try the process in safe mode, as windows will use less resources.

Many people use a free tool called "enditall", which shuts down non-essential programs. Sorry, but I don't have any experience with this one.
