I'm trying to mmake a copy of Snow white Platinum edition. I used dvd fab with no problems then used shrink to back up but when shrink was done backing up and it came time to burn every disc I put in just popped back out. I tried Sony, Maxwell, and Philips and all kept saying process was cancelled but not by me cause I didnt do a thing. I tried burning some other movies I already had on my hd and they all worked fine so there must be some encryption that Disney has on here that dvd fab didnt take off? Any advice? Maybe I need to run it through VOB blanker even though I never had to before using dvd fab.

Hi mikey73
Which version of Nero are you using?

The movies already on your hard drive are you just using Nero to burn or running thru Shrink again?

I use CopyToDVD, I was able to get Snow white on my computer using dvd fab then ran the video ts file through shrink then when it came time to burn it kept popping the blank dvd back out so I tried burning some other movies that I had done before in case I was having a software or burner problem but they worked great. I'm kind of lost never happened before.

1. it wouldn't hurt to run it through VOB blanker and see if that makes a difference. only takes about 5 minutes or so. 2. another possibility is to process it with ripit4me and see if it burns then (using shrink and Nero). 3. another option is to create an iso image and burn that using DVD Decrypter or imgburn. still, it is a mystery why all the other dvds will burn/accept blank disk, but not snow white. maybe someone more knowledeable will see this thread and come up with a simple but elusive answer.

Ok - check you backup target in Shrink is it set to burn w/ CopyToDVD?

The compression bar is all green in Shrink - no red showing?

Check the version of dvdfab you are using - latest is 2.9.8.3.

Running it thru Vobblanker like surfgeo said can't hurt.

yeah, do what binkie7 says! i never use Nero so i was only making suggestions for processing prior to getting to Nero. it does sound like your problem is with Nero, or with the shrink setting directing Nero to burn.

All green bar in shrink file is 4.37 gb I just ran it through VOB blanker and still gettin a message saying not enough space the disc is 4.7 gb and empty and the file is 4.37 so I dont understand I am copying movie only under reauthor in shrink and that is working could there be some sort of protection in the beginning of the movie?

just want to make sure that you ran the dvdfabdecrypter output file through vobblanker, right? the original disk needs to go through both, in that order. i vaguely remember getting a "not enough space" error message a long time ago, but don't remember what i did about it! damn! (i'm assuming you do have room on the hard drive... and the reference is not to the drive, but to the blank disk...) hopefully someone familiar with Nero will have a solution.

do i understand correctly that you can run it through shrink successfully and that the error message occurs when you attempt to burn it with Nero?

are you using CopyToDVD to burn? and it worked with all the other movies on your drive, but not this one? sorry about the confusion about the burning software (not sure how i got on the Nero tangent... i guess because a lot of people using shrink use Nero)... obvously forget all the Nero stuff if you aren't using it. i have no experience at all with CopyToDVD

Hey surfgeo
Shrink will autoburn w/ 3 proggies - Decrypter, Nero and CopyToDVD. (imgburn if somes tweak are made)
I got us on the 'nero' tangent cause yep alot of user of Nero & Shrink:)

@mikey73
What option is picked under 'select backup target'

Nah if you made up to the burn stage the protection should be gone, DVDFab updated?
The file should still be on your hard drive - how big is it?

Eddited to add; The output file size from shrink

I have dvd.iso and then burn with copy to dvd. The file is only 4.36 gb and when i burn main movie only it works no problem. From what I'm seein its like they put some sort of protection in the menus cause I get the fbi warning under the menues but under VOB I cant find it to blank it out so I'm thnkg theres somethiing in theyre everything else works great other movies , buring movie only so it has to be disc, I think.

aloha binkie7

if it's simple and short to write, how do you set shrink up for autoburn with non-Nero? i have Nero and it appears as the only option under file I/O options: "enable burning with nero". don't see any other choices or an "advanced" option to change to another burning software. just curious. only other thing i could think of for mikey73 was to check that the target size was set to "DVD-5" or smaller under "custom", but i think he said he did and it was 4.7gb.

Ok I downloaded ripit4me and fixts and ran snow white through there. This time in shrink I unchecked all the extra audio boxes and now I'm copyitn the whole movie so I guess I need to fugure out if ripit4me did the job or it was because I unchecked all the other extras but everytime I did it with dvdfab and VOB I had no red in my compression and my file was 4.36. After I'm done I run the movie through fab and VOB again and uncheck everything I did with ripit4me and see if that works if not then I know ripit4 me did something dvdfab didnt. Thanks for all the posts.

aloha surfgeo :) In Hawaii?
Usually by default the 'enable burning w/ Nero' is checked. How you can tell is under 'select backup target' your burner will be picked. This means Nero is installed - otherwise you have to pick the other options under 'select backup target'. If shrink can autoburn with them & they are installed they will show in the drop down.
Shrink will then keep them as the defaults if you selected one until you change it back.

A 4.7 gig dvd only holds 4.38 than add in the leadin/lead out and we're down another 1 or 2 mbs.

I always uncheck the unnessecary audios - keeps compression down.

Keep us posted mikey73 on your outcome - no matter what it is

yea! glad to hear you are making progress. of course we don't know WHY it is working now, but it is still progress. ripit4me is a cool program. re dvdfabdecrypter and vobblanker... make sure you have the latest version of dvd fab... just came out a few days ago... the beta seems to work too, just a couple of days old...

@binkie7

aloha. yep, hawaii. i live in a rain forest in the puna district of the big island (with high speed internet access i might mention... which is big progress considering that just 10 years ago i hard a "party" phone line!). mahalo for the info re configuring shrink with other burning software... it's been so long since i looked at those options that i forgot they were there! i see the (iso) option for dvddecrypter... if i had CopyToDVD installed it would appear as an option too i suppose. aloha!

Ok I unchecked the same boxes as I did with ripit4me and now its working with dvdfab only no VOB. I really dont understand because the whole box was green in shrink. The only difference I found was the file with the unchecked boxes was 4.38 gb then when I checked off some of the extras the files were 4.36 gb I dont know why that would make a difference but it did for some reason. Thanks for all your help.

glad it's all working even if it doesn't quite make sense. as binkie7 wrote:

i think that the brand of dvd and the particular dvdwriter and its software can also vary slightly the amount of space available. since you were right exactly at the maximum i suppose it's possible that shrink just uses that number to make it's judgment and gave it the all green, even though your particular writer/software/media setup/combination might have been a couple of MB shy of that in reality. dunno. just a guess. i personally have set my size in shrink to "custom" -> 4330. a slight increase in compression, but also avoids the possibility of playback errors on the outer edges of disks, especially inexpensive ones. i use verbatim now, having learned my lessons with "bargain" blank dvds.

yes you are right, each dvd brand does not have the same amount of space, some have a little more, some have less.

@ mikey73,
From reading this thread it seems like all u had to do was change the output size to custom (4350-4400) in shrink, heres a pic where to do this

Also would reccomend runing VobBlanker B/4 shrink when doing a sony or disney movie to make sure DVDFab didn't leave anything behind
