Did my church get ahold of some old Memorex stock or has Memorex stopped using CMC for awhile? Out of 21 Memorex discs 2 were CMC & the rest were Ridata. No, I don't buy Memorex except for church sermon CD's. I prefer TY or Ritek instead!!

Yes, unfortunately, Memorex seems to be using mostly Ritek recently, such as G05 for DVD-R 16x. I don't know about +R, but probably that too. Stick with the TY.

-Do you believe you own your computer and shouldn't be told what you can run and do? Then say *NO* to Microsoft Vista!
-Since half the questions here involve media problems, here ya go: Only use Verbatim or Taiyo-Yuden discs (get your TYs from Rima.com, not Supermediastore or meritline). Forget the rest, no matter what "brand" they sell under. Always burn at 4x speed regardless of the speed rating of this discs or your drive. If you have burn problems with these then you have to update your drive's firmware. For double-layer discs, only use Verbatim DVD+R DL and burn them at 2.4x speed.

Well, Ritek is an improvement over CMC. A friend of mine also told me some Memorex Printables he bought turned out to be Ricohjpn.

If I always hear voices surrounding me, does it mean Im crazy or that I hear in Dolby 5.1?

Memorex has to source from multiple factories since they outsell all other brands in the U.S. and no factory can supply all they need. All Memorex CD-Rs use phthalocyanine dye (CMC, Ritek, MBI), and this is a longer lasting dye than the material TY uses. DVD discs are a different story; so what people claim in the DVD section does not necessarily apply to CD-Rs.
