Hi all,

I have been using Swap Magic version 3.3 with the slide tool for about a year now. I've been able to play Japanese PS2 games fine with these tools until recently when I tried playing King of Fighters XI. In fact, I was able to play KOF XI a couple times using the Swap Magic DVD, but now the Swap Magic DVD doesn't seem to load anymore. I've tried playing original PS2 games and they load just fine. I've also tried loading the Swap Magic CD version and it loads just fine. I am wondering if these symptoms mean that my Swap Magic DVD is messed up, the lens needs to be cleaned, or if it's something else.

Since the Swap Magic CD works fine, I want to load KOF XI using the CD. I've looked at other threads concerning this method, but they are either unclear or involve the fliptop and a different version of Swap Magic. Here's what I've tried so far:

1)Load the Swap Magic CD
2)When the "Load Game" screen shows up, eject the PS2 tray. The screen now says it needs a "higher TOC"
3)I put in original Metal Gear Solid 2 and press the eject button again to close the tray.
4)At this point, the Metal Gear Solid 2 disc keeps spinning. I tried pressing "x" to load the game, but the MGS2 game loads instead. I know you're supposed to switch the original disc with the Import game at this point, but I don't know if this is possible with the slide tool. For fliptop users, I heard you can just grab the original PS2 disc out even while it's spinning. I would appreciate some clear steps at this stage for slide tool users.

Sorry for the long winded post. Thanks for any help you can give me.

Get CDLoader for your console version, from http://www.swapmagicfix.com and use this TOC refresh/DVD boot method;

1. Load the Swap Magic CD
2. Use slide tool to swap for CDLoader
3. Press X to load
4. Eject PS2 tray, put in high TOC original PS2 DVD game, close tray & let the disc 'synch' for a few seconds. Press X to load initial TOC.
5. Use slide tool to swap for DVD backup at the 'Using EA Swap Method' screen.
6. Press & hold X until screen disappears. Game will boot.

Thanks for the reply. I actually managed to get my Swap Magic DVD working flawlessly again. It seems my problem was a dirty PS2 lens. After opening up my PS2 and cleaning the lens, all my discs are running smoothly now.
