Ok today I was at Future Shop, and they were selling a Blue-Ray player for $1200. They were playing a movie on the B-Ray (chicken little)and it is SO SO good that when one of the cartoon characters stuck his head in the ground, all this dirt started flying and spreding around, What I am trying to say is that I COULD SEE INDEVIDUAL PICES OF DIRT/SAND ***AMAZING*** I cant wait for the ps3 graphics!!! (check it out 4 urself ;)

I don't know if chicken little was one of those that was encoded with mpeg2(I'm pretty sure it was) but if so other movies will look much better on bluray.I'm sure it looked great but they will only get better when produced with a better scheme like vc-1 for instance.

No what I'm saying is that the first batch of bluray movies was encoded in mpeg2 right, well future bluray will be encoded in better codecs with lots of enhancments. So chicken little probably looks great no doubt, but future bluray movies will look even better!
I'm glad you enjoyed it.If you get a ps3 you will get one with it as you probably know.

That short clip from Chicken Little is not an actual BluRay movie - Disney hasn't released BD movies as of today. It's from a demo disc which you can usually see looping continuously in Best Buy and other stores.

MPEG2 - but it was the best looking of any clips in the demo.

Give me a break - you don't really expect DVD video to die off soon especially NOT in the next year or two. The transition to an HD format will happen but very very gradually. Not everyone can afford an HDTV and a $1000 BluRay player just yet. Widespread acceptance of the new HD formats will happen when you see J6P picking up players for $200 or less and when majority of households own an HDTV.
"The emergence of a single, high-definition format is cause for consumers, as well as the entire entertainment industry, to celebrate."
