I have been using shrink and decrypter without problems for about a year until this week!! I installed a new graphics card a Nvidia Geforce 6200 and it's drivers, when I try to start DVDshrink nothing happens at all except when checking task manager cpu usage is 100% - as this was the only thing i had installed lately i started machine in safe mode and dvdshrink loads no problem - I uninstalled Nvidia drivers and reinstalled newest ones on their website but the same happens - Please is there anything I can do - I really don't want to have to keep uninstalling graphics drivers everytime I back up

its just a thought, but have you tried reinstalling shrink after you've installed the new g card drivers?

i had similar problems with my video capturing equipment after installing the nvidia card.. never got it right by re-installing the other stuff afterwards, i had to reformat, and install the graphics card before the other cards and software... like i said it wasn't DVDShrink, just some other A/V software

The problem might not be the graphics drivers but the IDE drivers...have a look at this thread, particularly the second page posts #16, 18 & 19.

I know NVIDA drivers mess with Nero for sure and have to be removed if you want to use Nero.
http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/1/319247
Those drivers seem to conflict with most burning programs. The only fix seems to be remove them and dont re-install them. Sux i know, but i know of no other way around this. Maybe someone else knows a workaround that allows you to keep the nvida drivers.
Good luck.

thanks for the suggestions - have checked the IDE drivers and they are all microsoft drivers not nvidia and have uninstalled and let XP reinstall them but still no luck, have checked all the DMA settings and they are listed as on in Device manager and Nero toolkit - I'm at a complete loss - if I need to back up I'll have to uninstall nvidia drivers and reinstall to do everything else - tried working with XP drivers on card but to scroll up took forever!! had been using Shrink with Decrypter and although shrink not working decrypter still is

just a quick update - forgot all about Nero until mentioned earlier so I thought I'd try recode but alas although it starts it freezes before you click on anything and once again CPU usage goes to 100%

Since you have Nero, post a burn log, even failed ones log something, and we can look at what is going on. Post the log from this location depending on if your using Nero 6 or 7,
Nero 6 history log location: Program Files>Ahead>Nero>NeroHistory.txt
Nero 7 history log location: Program Files>Nero>Nero 7>Core>NeroHistory.txt
These things record all burns, and we only need the last one. The burns are seperated by something like this:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
====== *** NeroAPI, History File *** ======
Windows XP 5.1
IA32-xxxx-xxxx-
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
that was from a Nero 6 log, but 7 looks much like that. Underneath the divider is the operating system, and right below that is the begining of the serial number. When posting a log, just include the last burn log, and be sure to edit out your serial numbers by typing xxxx over them, or deleting them before posting to the forum.
A burn log will give us some specific things we can look at and suggest fixes for. A burn log is worth a 1000 words. (old proverb handed down from mother Nero)

as Nero hadn't worked earlier either I decided to at least try and uninstall then reinstall as a friend of mine had the same prob with Nero but this cured it. I reinstalled and tried recode again but it does the same thing and freezes when you import the dvd files and uses 100% CPU - I closed it all down and went to Nero history log and there was - nothing!! the log is completely empty its as though I haven't even used it - any ideas at all?? Thanks

You lovely person!!! have uninstalled and reinstalled just about every driver on their list at Nvidia but was five away from that one so thank you for saving me from a few more grey hairs - have actually got dvdshrink appearing now with normal CPU usage. Thank you to all who helped me.
