I just bought a used modded PS2, It plays originals and back-ups with no problems.

I'd like to find out what kind of chip is installed. Is there a quick way? I'd like to know so that i can research what the mod can and can't do.

thanks

if there's no name showing up on bootup then the best way to find out is by opening up the ps2 and having a look at it or maybe ask whoever/wherever you got the ps2 from as to what mod is in there.

NTSC DNAS threads.

I cant believe how many people ask this question. Why don't you ask the person you bought it from? Which brings me to my second question, why would you buy a modded ps2 without knowing which chip is in it (if you got it for say $100, then I understand)?

Well there's always the ability to open it up and check yourself.

Yah i know i could open it. I simply wanted to know if there was a typical button to hold that would bring up some sort of info screen.

As for asking the seller, when i bought the modded system with network adaptor, two controllers and 5 games for $100 i asked but he gave it to a friend of a friend of a friend....to get modded and he does not know.

In short it looks like i'll just have to open it.

many thanks

for all ya know it may not be modded at all

either way $100 for a PS2 if it works with 5 games 2 Controllers and a Network Adapter is a deal... ad a Hard Drive and you'll be good to go...
