PS2 disc thing OVERSPINNING like crazy

Yea so my disc was spinning like crazy. I opened the PS2 (the older version not the slim) and I looked at the disc spinner and when I turned the PS2 on, the spinner OVERSPUN and it made this noise (kind of like a blender). Also the reset button does not work. When the PS2 turns on and the spinner starts spinning (overspinning) and I press the reset button, nothing happens. I at this moment have the PS2 open in front of me and would love to know what is wrong and what I can do to fix it or where would I find the solution to such a problem.

BTW, I use a HD for my games so I don't play my games off discs. I only need the discs to work for a few seconds to load HD Loader to use my hard drive.

thats happend to me as well its a fault that happens wen your ps2 has to much dust in the air holes

Could be the magnet that sit on top of the spindle is gone weak, has happened to a few systems before, PM me your email address and i will send you a repair guide that will tell you how to fix the problem, i doubt its a dust related issue, could be a dirty laser, clean the laser with a q-tip and some solution.
