I have successfully backed-up my movies until I went from 1x to 2x maxell bulk dvd-r media. These disks burn succesful on xcopy and express but on playback the freeze (at different points on each disk) and give me the message "error code 89020003 - the dvd disc might ahve been damaged as to inhibit playback operation - clean the surface of the disc if possible. If it has been scrtched, it might not be readable."

Has anyone else had this experience?

No but it sounds like the discs are indeed faulty so send them back.

I purchased a no name general purpose data disk and got the same result. Perhaps I have a software conflict with recent hardware. I will try to back-step hard drive. Will post results.
