I recently bought Dead Rising, and with it came with a dash update, before that I didn't have live so I had the original dashboard(V2.0). Now, I play any game for about 15 minutes and these red square/triangle/lines/whatever come onto the screen and my 360 just freezes up. Has anyone else had this problem? And what can I do to fix it, if anything.
And I was thinking, is it possibly overheating? I haven't heard of any red shapes on the screen when any kind of freezing for the 360. Please help, I don't want to have to pay $125 bucks to get it fixed.

And you don't have pay, just send it back to microsoft,as long as it's still under warranty right,or u been hacking the thing...?
but seriously, does it just freeze with dead rising or with all games? If it's overheating u should ahve some sort of combination of lights on the 360 light up,apart from teh normal one freen light that comes up,when a controller is connected,if there's nothing, then it does mean it's overheating,or so ms says...lol...it could just be the weather,i'd first test all my other games,if it has the same problem, try watching a dvd,if it does not freeze up,then it's not really the lazer, then it's probably heat,so if this is still occuring,i'd buy a Nyko Intercooler for the thing...but if this only happends with dead rising or if you get the lights light up on teh 360,i'd just send it back to ms...but if not then try to get an intercooler to see if it solves the problem...Goodluck...

Yes, it happens on all my games, that's what sucks. I haven't tried a DVD on it, I will soon but I'm pretty sure the same thing will happen. I've only heard of one person having this problem, it was on some forum somewhere I saw last night when googling the problem, he sent it back to get fixed. But no, I haven't been hacking it, but I didn't buy the One year warranty cause I didn't have the money. =\. But thanks for the confidence. lol

see what happens theoriticly is,that teh 360 heats up alot, because when it reads a game off teh disk it uses up system resources, that's why i am strongly for playing games off the hdd,the 360 hardly has to break a sweat playing demos off teh hdd...but if it freezes, just ring up ms and see if they'll let u send it back, and if not, then u might have to pay that money to get it fixed...i know it's a pain in teh ass,but that's why i'm glad i have a 3 year extended warranty

Yeah, the fact that the Update ruined my Xbox 360, the manditory update. And then I have to pay them to get it fixed, is shit. I'm waiting to hear a lawsuit come up. Right now I'm sending my 360 to get fixed, and I hope there is a warranty that comes with it being fixed, so that when I get it fixed, if it doesn't fix the problem, I can send it back. If not, I'll be sure to start the lawsuit myself.

lol. Thanks. It's not that I don't like Microsoft, in fact I'm a fan of their work...it's just that I would be pissed if they start screwing over their fanbase like most Third Party Game developers do.

It's a hardware error you're having, called pixelation, take it back to the shop you bought it at and they'll swap it for a new one, any graphical glitches apart from a split second freeze when changing to/from menu from games are GPU problems, you'll get the same on a pc if you overclock/heat your graphics card, you don't have to pay to get it fixed unless you have broken the silver sticker or soft modded it and then most game-stores are not checking for this anyway (i work at the firm that fixes the broken 360's), and when you get a new one, keep it in the coolest place possible when running it which will make it last a lot longer.

That happened to my friend too, get a new one, it's the GPU.
Make sure you keep your HDD, don't be unlucky wnough to get a bad one when you get the new one.
My firend told them he wanted to keep his hdd they said it was ok.

I've heard you can fix this by keeping your power supply susspended in the air e.g. place it onto of an open shoe box. As this allows heat to escape the power supply from every angle.
I've also heard that it can cause trouble if you have it pluged into any multipoint adaptors rather than being pluged directly into the wall socket.
Hope it helps.

Oh, well I wish I would have known about the Pixalation thing before I sent it to get fixed. lol. But I'm not sure if they would have taken it, it was a launch console, almost a year ago. And I bought it at Gamestop, and God knows they wouldn't have taken it back a year later.
