Disney disc won't even play

I read somewhere that you have to download some special DVD player for some R1 Disney DVDs to play in a PC? The impression I got was that doing so was a bad idea. Questions:

1. What was the program? Is it as bad as its rep?

2. AnyDVD wouldn't solve this. Will ripit4me?

3. Does this problem occur with Disney DVDs from other regions?

4. Any recommendations?

Think you have been misinformed - there is nothing special about Disney disks - they can be played and backed up without any problems.

Some Disney DVDs used to incorporate Interactual DVD player - if so do not load this and use a program such as Power or Win DVD to open and play.

Thanks. I DO use WinDVD---Windows Media Player doesn't work either. The whole machine freezes and it's Ctrl+Alt+Del to restore---eventually. The disc is not detected by Shrink. I'll look into Power but my experiences with Nero were uniformly disasterous.

I don't have any problems with Disney movies.
I use DVD Shrink w/Nero, and AnyDVD running in the background.
Works perfect everytime.

I also use WinDVD as my player, since I have a 5.1 surround setup, and WinDVD supports Dolby Digital and DTS........

I have AnyDVD in the background, and Remote Selector. Disabling either or both of these made no difference.

I use Sonic Digital Media sometimes, and DVDShrink with DVDDecrypter.

The DVD giving trouble is "Toothless". It won't play on WinDVD or Windows Media Player. DVDShrink says no disc is in the tray. Sonic will pretend to copy it but the disc is blank when you're done.
