My current set-up has a Phillips DVD Recorder (dont go there) with a Digital co-axial output. My Sony decoder has optical and co-axial digital inputs which suit my current arangements well. I can have Dolby pro-logicII from any stereo source like the TV, I can have dolby 5.1 or DTS from the DVD.
Now then,
I'm in the market for a new DVD recorder (sub £200) but have come accross a variety of logos and outputs that confuse me and I dont want to loose the audio options I already have with DVDs.
Please enlighten me on the following:
1) Q-sound logo (is this another pro-logic II format)
2) A co-axial output that says "Bitstream / PCM"
3) A co-axial output on the back but logo on front says Dolby digital 2.0

4) If I find a digital co-axial or optical output on the DVD recorder, but no DTS logo, will the machine transmitt the DTS to my decoder or is an attribute I need to look out for in the specs.
5) Can I take it for granted these days that a Stereo broadcast will be recorded in stereo or are some units still mono in this aspect?

Thanks in advance for expanding my knowledge.

Isn't it frustrating as well that most highstreet salespeople know less than me.
