Problems with burning DivX511.AC3 to disk

Hi,
I'm new to this so I may not have the correct terminology down.
I've recently been burning AVI files to dvd to play on a dvd player. Generally things have been working fine.
I've been using TMPG 3.0 Express to get an mpeg file and Tmpg Author to burn to disk and also to preserve the widescreen aspect ratio,
The problem is with these Divx511 and 505.AC3 files. While encoding and when they reach the 50% point they say an error has occured.
Is there something I'm doing wrong when it comes to these types of files?
