ok so I just got a Xenium Gold SP chip installed correctly (led chip lights work). The OS menu works perfectly...only problem is either I took too long installing the chip or I went crazy when I deleted things on the HD. so now whenever I try to play an original game I get the EvoX logo on the Xbox start up screen but then it just says error 16 service required...which is the dashboard. probably deleted that on the HD earlier what a stupid idea that was. I plan to keep the Xenium OS but install EvoX dashboard...problem is I cant install anything without the original MS dash because nothing boots up. I have burnt about 10 different dvd-r's and cd-rw's. I was hoping I could just get the slayer auto installer and take care of it but not sure if that will do the trick. I have heard about FTP with Xbox and PC but I have no idea how to hook them up together with a DSL modem. any help would be appreciated

you have to go into the bios settings by botting with no cd in the drive then configure your dashboard settings to default.xbe. and change all your bios settings that have to do with the dashboard if your bios is cabable. if you have another dashboard you are trying to use then reconfigure the bios for the new dashboard.

You are saved!

The XeniumOs has a built in FTP server. Sounds like your bios is working. If the EvoX logo is on screen you may also be able to use a slayers disc. The IceGuide should be all you need to get yeur network set up. (Page 41)

By the way! You have to keep the XeniumOs. It's not a dashboard. If you dont like it set up quickboot or instant boot.

I Have 2 Soloutions for you. Both rely on the XeniumOS.

Soloution 1:

1. Use the IceGuide (link above) and set up your XeniumOS so that the FTP server is active.

2. Go on to xbins and download the Microsoft Dash.
http://www.xbox-scene.com/articles/xbins.php

3. Use the FTP on Xenium to upload the Microsoft Dashboard to your C:\ Drive.

I would personaly reccomend AID 3.0 which is Auto Installer 3.0 it has way more stuff, and is incredibly easy to use.

I'm a fan of AID to, its more up to date. You pay for it in file size though.

well the first thing I did was a hotswap and managed to successfully copy the MS dash files to the Xbox hard drive but i am still getting error 16. I really cant imagine FTP would work if the original dash files are already on there know what i mean...so i'll try this slayer auto installer thing and AID 3.0 if they don't work i'm just going to get another xbox and install it under 45 mins this time

The FTP was the exact same thing as the hotswop just a hotswop is a bit more risky. Your probably best to try slayers or AID and do a full rebuild!

Whats this time limit you keep going on about?

What your talking about is a clock reset loop which is a problem that has alway plagued softmodding, and that occurs after the xbox ha sbeen left unplugged for more than four hours.

No its a problem with just about all of the softmodding programs, it happens more with some xbox'es thatn with others. They're only few softmods that are truely clock reset loop proof.

Indeed. That's why I love the UXE softmod so much.

The only downside is that I can't use the MS dash.

Thanks goes out to theridges for the userbars :)

well i appreciate all the advice guys but i'm just going to call it quits i'll probably just trade in the system and games at gamestop unless i find someone who wants it for a small price and thinks they can get it to work because i sure cant. oh well, i like how the PS3 will have free online gameplay vs. paying for xbox live anyhow.
