I'm unable to install the ASPI drivers on my computer. I have Windows XP Pro, a TDK 12/10/32 CD-burner, and a Lite-on 16x DVD-Rom. I don't know if this is important but the TDK drive is on Primary IDE by itself, the Lite-On is on Secondary IDE by itself, and the hard drive is connected to a Promise Ultra 100 TX2 controller card.

I used the ASPI drivers from the DVD2SVCD.org website and I've also tried using ForceASPI 1.7 as well (both are Adaptec 4.60). The first thing I did was use ASPIcheck. It showed my OS as Windows NT and everything was marked "N/A". It said, "ASPI is not properly installed. One or more components have been replaced with older versions of the software". Then I proceeded to install ASPI. I opened the Aspi.bat and when it tried to copy the files it said the "system cannot find the path specified". When I used ForceASPI it said the files were installed, but after rebooting and using ASPIcheck I still get N/A for everything and the same message.
I have CloneCD and Nero and they both work fine. But I can't use the DVD2SVCD or DVDx ripping programs. What's wrong?

As far as i am aware, Force ASPI is only to be used for windows 95. Use this link:

Make sure to read the 'read me' files in the downloaded problem because there are a few things you have to do when you install. Make sure to restart your computer afterwards as well.

Thanks alot it worked. The strange thing is I already downloaded and tried installing version 4.71 but it didn't work the first time, maybe I didn't need to run that install.bat. This time I just clicked on Aspiinst.exe and rebooted and it installed. Thanks again, the DVD2SVCD program works now.

You are suposed to run the .bat file. Wnyway as along as it works, tjats allt hat matters. Try DVD Shrink as well, its very good. Compresses a movie at level 4 - 20% in 30mins

It says DVDshrink is for fitting a DVD-Video disc on a single DVD-R. I don't have a DVD burner. How can it help for making VCDs?

Why not convert it to DivX and download the codecs. Are you creating a VCD file to play on your own DVD player? EasyDivX is a great program for doing this

I'm mostly creating the VCDs for watching with my tv and dvd player, but once in a while watch it on my computer. Divx can only be used on your computer right?
