1-What are you backing up onto dvd r?
2-What is the brand name and model# of your DVD-RW drive?
3-What is the brand name and model# of your player?
4-What format of dvd media are you using? Plus or Dash?
5-What is the brand name and speed rate of your blank media?
6-What programs are you using for the dvd backup process?
7-Has that player played any other backups, like from a buddy?
First off, make sure your DVD-RW drive plays those backups. View them on your pc,using the same DVD-RW drive that burned them. The quality should look near original.
After that, stand alone players factor in.When it comes to playing dvd +r or -r, some of them can be picky as to which format they'll play, the quality of your media, how fast they were burned, and even burn programs.
Usually switching to the opposite format-quality media- takes care of those issues. Sometimes, picky stand alone players won't play either plus or dash format. They can even be sensitive to different different burners.
That's where booktyping your backups to dvd-rom will help, depending on what model of burner you have. The answers to those questions will tell us if you have booktyping capability.
