Everything was working fine for over a year backing up films on HD with DVDShrink and then ripping them onto blank DVD-R disks with DVD Decrypter. All of a sudden, Decrypter won't rip. Shrink still backs up disks but I can't get them to rip onto blank disks. I get errors like - focus servo error, I/O error, and unknown disk above.
I have used quality media but still nothing. Downloaded Trial for Nero 7 but it won't overide the encrypted movies to backup. Is there another free ripper I can use besides Decrypter? Or how can I fix Decrypter? Can I uninstall Decrypter and reinstall? If I sound frustrated, I am. Help, please.

These denotes burner problems. What media are you using, how fast are you burning, when was the last time you updated the firmware on your burner?

Open DVD Decrypter go to the tools tab, then drive and capabilities you will see what make/model and the current firmware is. Post back with what the info is.

It doesn't give me the drive as an option to open but it says no writers detected. I think it the burner is a matsui 810 or something.
I will keep trying

If you have Nero then go to the Nero StartSmart and run the Nero InfoTool this will also give you the information.

Try ripping with DVDFab and then run the file through Shrink and burn with Nero. If you have the same problems with Nero as Decrypter then you will know something is wrong with the drive. You also can uninstall and reinstall DVD Decrypter or you can dl ImgBurn which is the burning part of the DVD Decrypter program but more up to date and try to burn with this program instead of Decrypter. You need to see if you can burn with another program to rule out the sw. If you can't you may be looking at the drive going bad. Focus Servo Errors/power callibration or I/O when burning are saying the drive is having problems.
Quote: The "Focus servo failure" message is a hardware error. It can be caused by the following:
Poor media - Try more than one brand of CD-R media to rule this out as cause.
Poor power - The power to your recorder could be fluctuating. If you have an internal recorder, try a different power connector and make sure it's not being shared by any other devices. If you have an external recorder, if possible, remove it from the external chassis and connect it to your system as an internal recorder. If this resolves your issue, you need to replace or repair the power source in your external chassis.
Optical head is dirty, needs alignment, or recorders circuit board has an open coil - please contact your recorder manufacturer to service your unit.
DVDFab Decrypter rips it does not burn, you need to do it with Nero or ImgBurn.
