Since coasters are still cheaper (to a point) than a new drive, and it's going to be a few days until I can get my hands on one the experimentation continues. I finaly came across a decent firmware for my NEC 3520AW that does give me full control of the book type settings in DVDInfoPro, which wasn't worth mucking with since I was already set to DVD-ROM but I though the newer firmware might make a difference. Wrong. But I noticed something while CloneCD did it's thing during that last test; nothing. No apparent burner activity, and absolutely no buffer usage. This seems odd to me since I've probably burned three times my weight in disks and never have I seen one burn without some buffering. The next oddity is when I threw the disk back in the tray to see if Win would show me size on disk, which it did; 6.87MB. Stranger yet is when I throw a burned copy of Chromehounds in Win and it reports as 0 bytes. This begs the question: is CloneCD my problem?. Would I be better served to try another burning program or stop throwing cash in the trash and hold out for another drive?

Thanks

I say new drive. CloneCD is the program you want to use for burning. Plus I heard NECs aren't so great for 360 games.

I have never seen the buffer go up, so i don't think that is your problem.

I have burned over 10 games now, no problems with CloneCD, I still think Xbox360 it's the easiest console to copy games with i've ever burned. All i see in clone cd normally is the % gauge fill, nothing else moves.

About why it says 0bytes on windows, i have no clue, haven't had the need to do that yet since i DL the games.

Sounds like a new drive is in order then. Oh well, it did give me close to 150 xbox1 games without a single coaster. I guess I can put her out to pasture.

Okay, you must have the hitachi drive, what firmware do u have installed on it the latest? Because the hitachi drive is the worst for reading games, but there have been updated firmwares in particular a patch by geremia that slowed the hitachi drive speed when reading disks. The disk size is correct in windows for your game 6.87 MB thats what windows will show only the video partition. Now the drive you need to get is the pioneer dvr-111d they have it at newegg for 31$, Read the reviews on the site if you dont believe me every burn guaranteed.
