Okay, here is my problem:
I recently purchased a TV-USB2.0 video capture device from an online vendor. I set up the drivers for Windows XP that came with it, along with the drivers for the remote control to be used with the video capture device . I then installed WinDVR 3, and fired it up. I ran into a few minor issues, but I quickly fixed those and the video I was able to capture video off of my VHS. It worked really well.
BUT, I had to stop capturing video because I had to depart for work. So, I shut down my machine. Some hours later, I came back to my computer with intentions of resuming my video capturing. But when I loaded up WinDVR, it decided to welcome my with "Cannot detect device. Please check hardware or re-install driver." Knowing that I had not touched the hardware since I left, apart from turning the VCR back on, I assumed this was a software related issue. So I opted for option 2, re-installing the driver.
So I booted up the CD ROM on which the drivers were stored. I clicked "INSTALL DRIVER (FOR WINDOWS XP)" like I did when I first installed the program. However, an error message popped up exclaiming "Installation is failed. Please check your TV device!"
I then decided to turn to Google for some help, and I discovered I needed some WDM drivers from nVidia (WDM drivers). So I installed the WDM drivers, but of course the only one that wouldn't work was the video capture driver (universal).
So any idea why my USB video capture card worked, and then stopped working after a few hours? I'm about to chuck this piece of junk out the window.
Regards,
-G.
PS. The actual product name is "Sabrent USB 2.0 TV Tuner/Video Captr Box" and I bought it from Tiger Direct.
