my harddrive just crashed... i was running xp pro(burned company copy) on a p4 with 128M ram and a 40gig hard drive. i just ordered another 512M ram for it and a 250gig hard drive (Western Digital Caviar SE16 WD2500KS 250GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive)

I use my computer for internet, burning dvd's, music, pictures, and basic word processing...

I am tired of my computer being slow and frezing up... most of you are thinking apple doesnt do that and neither does linex...

so this brings me to my next question... what OS system should I go with? I wouldn't mind going with linex... but i'm not sure what the learning curve would be like... i have been using windows all of my life. i still have the copy of xp pro(with my upgrades will it run smoother?) or i have a copy of windows 2000...

i just wanna have something that runs

Win XP Pro / Win 2k Pro? is that right? or just Win 2k??

and it's Linux not Linex.

if your not against partitioning you could try Mandrake Linux? u might enjoy that slightly, otherwise, u should send back your 512ram and get 1GB.

what's your processors speed? 'not Pentium 4' but the Clock speed like Mhz or Ghz?
