I have backed up 100's of movies using DVD Shrink, DVD Decrypter, DVD Fab Decrypter, and Vob Blanker. But recently I have notice a little bit of skipping in the back ups about every 5 minutes or so. But just a little. All the older backups that I have made do not do this. Just the one's I have done in the past month. Is anyone else having this problem? Please help me. Skipping however slight still gets annoying.
The disc are imation 8x......just started using them a while back and that is probably when the problem started. I was using Compusa disc that are white and i am not sure what speed but i have had no problems with those. I have always backed up movies using MAX as the burn speed and never had problems. Should i switch disc or slow down the burn speed or both.
If you've used VobBlanker to process/clean the VIDEO_TS.IFO (movie file) afterward, then it is likely the media itself. IMATIONS doesn't look good here and yes, it is the main culprit that's causing it to skip. Those backups that are skipping, did you cleaned it through VobBlanker or not? Possibly there may be a little cell glitches left behind if you haven't done so, or it is definitely the media.
I've used DVDFAB Decrypter + VobBlanker and I don't have any playback issues (i.e. skipping, freezing/pausing, etc.), plus I only use genuine media like Yuden, Verbs. and Hitachi Maxell (MIJ).
My #1 rule of thumb is to do as the follow:
- use high quality media: Taiyo Yuden, Verbatim and Maxell (Made In Japan by Hitachi Corp.)
- burn anywhere from 4X - 8X only, don't burn at max speed (i.e. 16X even if your burner is capable of doing so)
- don't multi-task (i.e. surf the net, run anti-virus scan while you're transcoding or burning)
Another side note here, not critical, but it's good for your system.
- defrag your hard drive often (twice a week if you can)
- clean/delete all your cookies and temp files in prior to log off from the net and or shut down
- make sure your system has enough of fan running through, this prevent from overheating
Good luck and happy burning on any of your future dvd projects.

Well i thank you for the advice. I will try burning these disk at a 4x speed and see if that works since i don't want to throw away over 50 disc. I think the disc are part of the problem but i will se if the slower burn speed helps out. Thank you for all of your advice. Much appreciated.
You're welcome, glad I can help. I'm here doing my part trying to help out newbies or those that can listen and learn.
I strongly deemed that it is the media on your case, since you're using IMATION. Don't feel so bad because I, too, used to be a newbie and 4 years ago I used to use junk media (i.e. Memorex, Imation, CompUSA brand, Dynex, cheap media, etc.) However, once I've learned about the famous Taiyo Yuden, Verbatim and Maxell (Made In Japan by Hitachi Corp.), I've never looked back on junk media.
A final note here, if you value the longevity of your lovely backups, then don't burn at max speed. I'll say this again, anywhere from 4X - 8X is the best with genuine media like Taiyo Yuden, Verbatim or Maxell (Made In Japan). In addition, it's wise to keep your burner's firmware up-to-date as well.
