I just bought the LG "DVD recorder+ VCR" (RC199h) and I know I need a stabilizer/decoder to copy from vhs to dvd. So, am I able to use either the The Dimax "Red Pro" or the Optex. Also do I have to use a seperate VCR to to this? Can I just record for VHS to DVD from the LG once I get a stabilizer.

yes you can do that with a single vcr and dvd recorder..

but that dvd recorder still has a protection deal built
in.........

i have done this vcr..to dvd...recording but it's a big
hassel in my opion......the old vcr tapes have protection
on them as well...................

if you have only a few to transfer it's not worth
all the trouble....to me anyway....

before i spent $100.00 to buy the RED PRO i would
consider all that..................

You won't need a separate VCR if the Videos are Home Videos or have no protection on them. I don't use either the The Dimax "Red Pro" or the Optex, but I do use Sima's Digital Copy Enhancer ATX-500 & I need another VCR to record from VHS to DVD. If you haven't ordered those others yet Here's where I got the ATX-500. http://www.220giftcenter.com/

The Dimax people are good at answering all those questions for you=I have the new version of Red called Grex-it has s-video support-The device is placed between the input and output of any player/recorder-inline=-lights up as it removes all protection-They work as advertised-good!-email them-they are in Isreal and a little hard to decipher sometimes but very helpful-works well with-Shrink and Convert X to DVD and 1 Click Copy Pro-
