what ever i try tmpgenc wont recognise the divx, can i get some sort of manual for tmpgenc?

make sure you have divx codecs installed (divx 3.11,4,5.02 that should do the trick...

Try changing the DivX to SVCD by using the latest version of SVCD.cfm" class="forum_link" target="_blank">DVD2SVCD, it has pretty good options for changing various AVIs to SVCD discs.
