i just bought that new PS2 Slimline, my friend has swap magic v.3
i tried it in my ps2, the swap magic CD & DVD worked great, but i couldnt play any burned games. Do i really need to buy the flip top/tools for the ps2 to play burned games? or can the CD/DVD worked alone with those tools? I read several guides and tried it.

what i did was:
his part i tried it in the Swap Magic CD
-i put in the Swap Magic CD
-this screen came up saying "Load Program" & "Video Mode:Normal"
-when i opened the case it said "Insert bigger TOC Dics"
-I took out the CD out and put in the burned game and closed it
-This screen came up saying "Refresh TOC" and it kept on loading... but it got to Nowhere

This part I tried it in the Swap Magic DvD
-I put in the Swap Magic DVD
-the screen came up saying "Insert Disc"
-I put in the burned game and pressed X and it showed red stuff on the sides and the "Insert Disc" and it just kept on loading... but it got to nowhere

This my PS2 Slimline Version Info
Console: SCPH-75001
Browser: 1.40
CD Player: 2.00
Playstations Drive: 2.00
Dvd Player: 3.11U
Mac Adress: 00:15C1:56:9A:43

and the DVDs i used to burned games
Philips DVD+R
120min Video
4.7GB Data
Made in Taiwan

yeah...this is kinda long and boring but what i mean is do i really need to have the both(swap magic CDs & tools) to play burned games?

You need the tools, they make the ps2 think that the lid is closed so that you can swap the disk, so without the tools or a fliptop its useless, you can use the tape and tissue mod though.

You need something (tools or fliptop lid) to be able to open while the ps2 thinks it's closed, so you can put the burnt disc into the ps2.

Or simply mod the PS2 yourself. Search for "tissue mod", although I tape down the switch instead of sticking tissue in there. Without doing "something" to your PS2, the PS2 will know you opened the lid and backups will not work.
