I am trying to play a copied game with my gameshark. My PS1 gameshark works fine but, when I try to use my PS2 one I get the "Please Insert PS or PS2 format game" error. All of my other games work and the gameshark doesn't have scratches. I have a slim PS2 without a mod chip. I have the gameshark memory card thing inserted and everything. Could someone please help.

If your Gameshark ejects the disc tray before you put in the game disc, then you have one of the newer Gamesharks by Fire International/MadCatz, which cannot be used as a 'boot' device for loading backups. You will need a chip or use Swap Magic to load the backup.
Only the old version Gamesharks by Datel/Interact could boot copied games, as they didnt eject the tray & the disc stopped spinning once Gameshark had loaded, so you could use a swap method to switch discs.

It is a Gameshark made by Interact and, I have one of the newer PS2's that has the flip top load instead of the slide out tray.

I just found out that the old Gameshark won't work on the new PS2. The old PS1 bonus disc that came with it works though. I am trying to play a PS1 burned game. Will just the bonus disc work and if so how can I do it?

1. Load Bonus Disc
2. If you're using codes on the game, select them & choose to start game with codes, if not, then choose to start game without codes.
3. Use swap method (ie; the way you swap discs without the PS2 knowing - custom fliptop, slidecard, magic keys method) to change Bonus Disc for burnt PS1 disc.
4. Press X to load.
