I'm a relative beginner at backing up my DVD collection, but I did attempt to read as much as possible before beginning. I'm using the latest version of DVD Decrypter and DVD Shrink to create my backps. I'm using Taiyo Yuden and Verbatim DataLifePlus as my media. Despite this, according to my quality test my discs are rather poor. I cannot get a quality above 90, and my PO errors seem rather high. I've seen many screenshots of people with PO errors averaging 20-40, but I cannot seem to get below 70. Please see below.

Any suggestions on increasing my burn quality would be greatly appreciated:

Hi there,

I own a NEC-3550a and I was suggested by the author of CD Speed to read the media at 5x and scan the media with 1ECC blocks, and not 8ECC blocks.

Quote:
I haven't been able to test this myself but it seems that NEC fixed a bug with the scanning interval.
To change the scanning interval with Nero CD-DVD Speed the following registry value can be added:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ahead\Nero Toolkit\CD Speed\CD Quality]
"Scanning Interval"=dword:0000008

To compare with other drives following intervals can be used:
8 ECC (to compare with BenQ/Philips/QSI/Pioneer)
1 ECC (to compare with LiteOn/BTC/Plextor)
32 ECC (to compare with AOpen)

The colored backgrounds and quality score are changed accordingly.
Maybe changing your scan from 8ECC to 1ECC may give you more accurate scans ?

Try also at a slower speed, 4x, 5x to read.

Good Luck !
