First of all, usually it comes with your firmware package.

If not google it.

Forum rules oblige us not to say where to get firmware, SS or related software (in this case mtkflash) so we really can't point at them for you.

I can tell you that, that it comes with your firmware, most times (for some reason 3.2 didn't come with it, weird, isn't it?).

If you have any other questions post them we'll be happy to reply to them (make a new thread for them, don't post them here).

hey guys got a hold of it but on the tut it says to format floppy then add XTREME.BIN, XTRM0800.BIN, MTKFLASH.EXE, MTKFLASH.TYP.now i've got all except XTRM0800.BIN. do i need it? if i do how can i get it.

You need that file if you plan on actually ripping from the original dvds, that file enables the drive to work under the Windows OS.

I don't use it myself, since i just download them. It should be on the firmware package too. Be careful, it seems that the place you're downloading from it's no good, since you have had so many problems before.

what if youre using the hot swap method for backing up originals. does it even work with extreme 3?

What you mean by hot swap ?
The one where you open up an internal DVDRom drive and change the disc while running the program ?

With that method you don't use the Xbox drive, but an internal drive from your pc, so no, you won't need the xtreme0800 file for that.

You should know already there is no way to extract the SS, so you'll have to inject it after you rip the game.

Other than that, i have read around that it works fine.

BurningAs, did you try this after all ? i rmeember you asking about it a while back

I'm sure someone else might be able to explain better about this method, i haven't tried it myself.

i did a forum search and read that if i have the ss file of the game and do the hot swap and burn off original..i have to insert it befor i burn the disk using ss merger. ok i use ss merger and combine ss file and game files together then burn with clone, or do i have to use ss merger on the 360 with the ss merger file of the game? huh,(scracthing my head:) can someone expain a little. thanks guys.

If you use the swap method to Read the disc.

You should end up with the Game.iso

You'll Still need to get:

the PFI.bin (Physical Format Information)
DMI.bin (Disk Manufacturing Information)

You can both of them with DVDInfoPro

then get the SS from a website or get it with the dvdinfopro.

If you have the 3.0 or higher firmware, you put all that in the "Xbox 360 Stealth" folder and run the build360.bat file in it.
