Ok, so this is porbably really annoying for you people, to have to answer stupid questions like these. But I want to do this right, and not be left in the dust.

1) Ok, the Xbox 360 has a HDMI output right? So I can link it up to a HDTV and get HD picture? Just checking.

2) I need help on resolutions and all that 720p, 1080i, 1080p stuff. What do they mean and what can I get on this tv, and on my Xbox? http://www.samsung.com/uk/products/telev...=Specifications

3) Do you think that after the HD DVD player add on comes out, that MS will make Xbox 360s with built in HD DVD players? Becuase I've heard some things about that, and I don't want to buy one if i'm goning to get ripped off later. Also, will the HD DVD add on need a seperate HDMI port on the tv or the xbox?

Thanks a lot, I think that's it!

The Xbox360 doesn't have a HDMI output, not yet, only the composite and component cables. There's a VGA adapter for computer like monitors too, by the way.

I read somewhere the HD DVD will be for movies only, not for games, that sucks >.<

For high definition:(Component)

You have your 2 audio cables, which suck. You can always get your digital audio cable (fiber optic).
And you have your RGB (Red,Green,Blue) Cables
*Then depending on your TV, it can go to 720 or 1080

For stantard definition:(Composite)

You have your 2 audio cables, which again suck. Like i said, you can always get your digital audio cable (fiber optic).
And you have your Forever Living Yellow Cable, lol...i'm sure we all know that picture quality it's not that good, but well, we have been using them for so long. lol.

There you have it. If you need anything else, let me know.

If that's the max resolution yes, it wont hit True 1080.

720 it's still a BIG leap from just regular crappy picture ( like my own *cries*)

Your link it's not good by the way, you need to copy the link from the webpage's address bar.

ill quote Bigperm88's post on this one from http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_jump.cfm/381655/2292560`

Quote:
1080i is higher resolution but it is a interlaced signal. I prefer 720p becasue its a Progressive scanning signal. IMO and many others a Progressive scanning signal is superior to a interlaced signal. Colors are much more vivid (Again imo) with a Progressive scanning signal no matter the lower resolution.

And many TVs technically dont support a true native 1080i resolution. Even though a TV says it supports 1080i, it may not be its native resolution. Hence the signal will be down converted.
He's completely true about TV's not going up to 1080, i used to work for SEARS and in every single training we had we were told TV Technology it's not perfected in these areas.

The only tv's that will get TRUE 1080 as far as we were told (i quit SEARS on las december, DAMN CHRISTMAS PEOPLE) are the one with Texas Instrument's DLP Technology.

Gotta love those TV's so damn lightweight such a damn good picture.

Well, hope this helps !

My 55 inch Grand Wega does both 720p and 1080i and I can not tell much difference between them. Well, 1080i looks a little sharper to me while 720p looks a little softer. Just my eyes though. My wife can't tell at all.
I don't know if this was because the rain was heavy during the game of NCAA 07 in 720p, but the actual rain drops look more realistic instead of the falling lines it looks like in 1080i.

720p will look nicer BurningAs, as long as the tv is not 1080i native, it won't be that good and sadly only the ones with texas instruments' DLP chips can do that.

And maybe someday we'll get a Progressive 1080, that will be awesome.

(FYI: no Tvs with that yet, even tho people say there is.)

yeah if you think of it. 720 is nice its acutally got 720 horisontal lines at anypoint.

but 1080i says 1080 but with interlace its only got 1080/2= 520 lines at any given time.

so yeah i was thinking 720p but to make sure.

wait so you say there arnt any 1080p???/

There are so many 1080p sets out now that it's unbelievable. I got one myself.

[link]http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/Sony-60-SXRD-trade-LCoS-Projection-HDTV-KDS-60A2000-/sem/rpsm/oid/152039/catOid/-12870/rpem/ccd/productDetail.do[/link]

Not to mention, DLP was the first technology to achieve 1080p but it did so with "wobulation". Then came the 1080 discreet pixel chip that did true 1080p. Sets are available that can accept a 1080p signal via it's HDMI port. A few can with component cables. But most (and I mean MOST) 1080p TV's can't even accept a true 1080p signal.

OK, after your help, i think i'm going to go with this tv. Can you tell me whether it's good for gaming, dvd watching, and... that's about it. (Maybe HDDVD when microsoft bring out the hddvd player). Just one more question, neo_pr said about componant connections and getting different cables, which ones would i need to get the best audio and visual.

http://www.samsung.com/uk/products/telev...=Specifications

Thanks a lot.

Get Fiber Optic for the audio, BIG difference, lol.

For video the RGB cables is your chice, there's VGA but it would make a big difference. Monster Cable just got out a new set that comes with better RGB(component) cables AND the fiber optic. That would be THE BEST you can get...

SINCE WE DON'T HAVE HDMI, lol, sorry, it gets me mad.

Have fun !
